Erica Baum advises clients on antitrust matters including litigation, government antitrust investigations and pre-investigation matters, and merger risk analyses.
Erica’s experience includes defending allegations of antitrust violations in civil and criminal cases in federal and state courts. She also represents clients in connection with Department of Justice and Federal Trade Commission investigations and pre-investigation preparation and advocacy. Erica counsels clients on antitrust risk issues relating to mergers and acquisitions and liability issues relating to both private and government litigation. Beyond defensive work, she has represented industry members in writing public comments and bringing anticompetitive conduct to the attention of regulators. She has been featured in Bloomberg and Law360 for her insights on antitrust issues and artificial intelligence.
Erica has worked with a diverse client base including clients in healthcare, aviation, and wine.
Prior to joining Rule Garza Howley, Erica represented clients from an array of industries in a variety of high-stakes and multidistrict litigation matters involving issues ranging from antitrust, insurance recovery, contracts, and white-collar crime. In her pro bono practice, she has served as a guardian ad litem representing children in custody cases.
She previously clerked for the Honorable Theresa Carroll Buchanan in the Eastern District of Virginia where she worked on a breadth of civil cases. Erica received a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and a B.A. in Government and Politics, as well as a B.A. in Linguistics, from the University of Maryland.
