Justin Heipp advises clients on antitrust matters, including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and investigations by the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Trade Commission, and state competition enforcers, as well as civil litigation involving government regulators and private parties.

Justin brings nearly a decade of experience as a trial attorney at the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice, where he led several significant merger investigations and litigated multiple enforcement actions in federal courts. He played significant roles in the government’s successful challenges of Aetna’s proposed $37 billion acquisition of Humana, and the “Northeast Alliance” joint venture between American Airlines and JetBlue.

Justin’s government experience involved in-depth investigations into mergers, competitor collaborations, and other potentially anticompetitive practices in a wide range of industries, including healthcare, insurance, airlines, cable and satellite, media and entertainment, paper products, consumer goods, software and technology, agriculture, and manufacturing.

Justin received a J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis, and an undergraduate degree in political science and English from the University of Chicago. He previously served as a law clerk for the Honorable Eric L. Clay on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
